Terry Pendland

Tim Penland is a seasoned artist with a passion for preserving history through his art. For over half a century, he has honed his skills as a self-taught artist, complemented by formal training in watercolor and oil painting techniques. Currently, his artistic endeavors are focused on graphite drawings that capture the essence of Native American culture, Western life, railroad heritage, rock guitar legends, and wildlife.

With a deep fascination for Native American and railroad history, Penland meticulously researches old photographs, ensuring his drawings accurately depict the subjects while infusing them with vibrancy and clarity that surpasses the original images. His dedication to historical accuracy is evident in the mining diorama he and his wife created for The Cripple Creek Heritage Center.

Penland's versatility extends beyond graphite, as he also works with acrylics and oils, allowing him to explore a diverse range of artistic expressions. His talent has been recognized through numerous exhibitions and showings in various art galleries across Colorado.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Penland is an active member of the local arts community, currently serving as the president of The Cripple Creek Art Alliance. Recently, he has relocated to Canon City, where he continues to create captivating works that celebrate the rich tapestry of American history and culture.
